Enhancing a Customer-Centered Banking Experience for the Leading Kuwaiti Bank

Gulf Bank partnered with Qubstudio to redesign its mobile banking app as part of a strategic shift toward a more customer-centered digital experience. The goal was to go beyond a typical UI refresh and build a completely new CX tailored to GCC market specifics, regulatory requirements, and the bank’s omnichannel ambitions.

Over more than a year of collaboration, we conducted continuous global and local market research, ran regular customer studies, and worked closely with cross-functional teams to balance business, security, and compliance needs. This allowed us to fully redesign the app’s core journeys and modernize its key features — from card management to everyday banking tasks.

The redesigned app significantly strengthened user trust through clearer onboarding, more intuitive flows, and a design system built for consistency and scale.

As a result, Gulf Bank saw a 2x increase in App Store rating, a 78% rise in users, and 2.5x growth of monthly active users (MAU).

The new mobile experience is now easier to use, locally relevant, and aligned with the bank’s long-term innovation strategy.

Designing the Next Generation of Mobile Banking for Bahrain’s First Digital Bank

ila Bank partnered with Qubstudio to elevate its mobile-only banking experience and support the rapid growth of Bahrain’s first fully digital bank.

Over three years of ongoing collaboration, we helped the ila team enhance existing features and design new, innovative capabilities — from Rewards and Hassala savings pots to Al Kanz prize-linked deposits.

Guided by a double-diamond approach, we ran continuous market and user research, conducted stakeholder interviews, and carried out multiple rounds of user testing to validate ideas and keep the product aligned with real customer needs.

Our designers worked as an integrated team with ila Bank, establishing a design-driven product workflow that allowed fast delivery and efficient scaling.

We also refined and expanded the design system, enabling quicker prototyping and greater consistency across hundreds of screens.
This long-term partnership helped ila Bank strengthen its position as the leading digital bank in Bahrain, achieving a #1 app ranking, a 4.8 App Store rating, and multiple global awards for UX and mobile banking excellence.

Today, ila’s mobile app stands as one of the most advanced digital banking experiences in the MENA region.
